I recently wanted to downgrade a 3.66 ps3.
Model number: CECH-3004A
Motherboard: KTE-001 (used JSD-001 diagram)
What I did was:
1) Updated to 3.70
2) Installed Progskeet chip
3) Read the 16MB NOR with Winskeet (version 40000_111004)
Made 3 dumps and CRC checked them and they are exactly the same.
4) Created a downgrade.bin with the patch tab
5) Tried to write back the downgrade.bin via progskeet to the ps3 16MB NOR and failed.
Eventually the write failed with:
[2011-11-04T18:00:41] Flashing address 0xd40000 (128 KiB)
[2011-11-04T18:00:45] Verifying address 0x40000 (128 KiB)
and it did hang on Verifying address 0x40000 . I needed to shut off the ps3.
When I then turned it on, it shut off after 5 seconds with no red light. In other words, the ps3 is bricked.
When I tried to write back the original dump it also failed, with the same results. I am now in a state where I do not know how to continue. What do you think.
I also made a dump after the first write, so that dump is different then the downgrade.bin.
I can check and see that are the differences with a hex editor which I will do later.
